Download the latest version of the instruction manual. ApplicationsWhile PM2.5 is a measurement mandated for ambient environmental sampling by the US EPA, there is a great deal of interest in this particular size cut. One application relates to Indoor Air Quality Testing (IAQ). There are also applications wherein forward looking investigators are interested in the PM2.5 cut in the visionary belief that it is a measurement of personal exposure significance. HistoricalIn 1995, BGI was asked by the Finnish Institute of Public Health (KTL) to develop a cyclone which would cut at 2.5mm at a flow rate of 4 Lpm. This request was based on a need for a specialized instrument for their Pan European IAQ study. This unit was developed as an iteration of the GK family of cyclones1. Following the GK numbering system, it is a GK2.05. In honor of our first client, for this device, it is the KTL Cyclone. Subsequently, several other investigators have purchased them, resulting in it now becoming a standard product. Flow RatesFour lpm is a problem for some personal samplers and therefore, the following chart is presented to permit ascertaining if your current equipment is suitable.
A new version of the KTL cyclone featuring an omnidirectional or shrouded inlet has been developed in concert with our triplex cyclone. Known as the GK2.05SH (KTL), it has been placed into production at the request of a Harvard investigator. It has identical performance to the original KTL cyclone, but at a flow rate of 3.5 Lpm.
