Applications
Features
In the intervening years since BGI created the market for high flow rate 24 hour personal sampling the requirements of the scientific community have matured. BGI’s leadership position in the realm of quiet samplers coupled with strictly limited pulsation has never been challenged. The Omni name refers to the operating system which is also the name of this entire line of Pumps (see frm Omni). Numerous investigators have called for the development of a "Button Board" which would be more naturally instinctive for experienced instrument users. We have produced a four button design (UP/DN/ESCAPE/ENTER) which has proven remarkably instinctive to use. The proof of this fact is demonstrated by the “TUTOR”. This entirely new concept in training provides an interactive instruction manual which allows the pump to be virtually run on your computer screen. Another major achievement of the Omni is one point calibration. From 3-12 lpm, calibration at any place near midrange will result in 1% precision. Calibration at the exact flow rate will result in 0.5% precision. Excursions from these superb figures occur at 2 lpm (for which the pump is not rated) wherein the precision is only 2%. A flow rate of 15 lpm has been provided for the use of Impactor Cassettes, so important for viable samples. The maximum run time at this flow rate is 20 minutes, which exceeds the recommended run time of the cassettes. The Omni has been tested for RF emissions and substantially exceeds the requirements of Boeing D6-16050-4, Rev D for electromagnetic emissions by electronics used on board commercial aircraft. It can therefore be safely used on a airplane while inflight. (View Report)
CalibrationThe finest samplers deserve the finest calibration equipment. All BGI instruments based on the Omni O/S will directly “talk” to our calibrators for flow rate calibration purposes. No intermediate couplers or translators are necessary. The BGI tetraCal® (formally trical) and deltaCal are NIST traceable and the only electronic volumetric calibrators usable down to -30°C. Emerency Power SupplyThere are occasional instances where there is absolutely no line power and no opportunity to replenish the charge of a rechargeable battery. Under these special circumstances the use of disposable Alkaline cells becomes justified and necessary. We have developed a 6-D cell unit based upon a popular waterproof/shockproof module. It is capable of operating the Omni for 16 hours at 10 lpm at a resistance of 25 cm. of H2O. Lower flow rates will result in longer running times. Specifications: |
