BGI 900 LPM High Volume Cascade Impactor
|
|
|
The origins of the Cascade Impactor begin with the wartime efforts of K.R. May at Porton England and A.A. Andersen at Dugway, UT. Subsequently, many other research scientists expanded our knowledge and understanding of the device, culminating in the work of Virgil Marple at the University of Minnesota in the 1960’s. From that time forward there were many minor variations but no real progress until a research group at the Harvard School of Public health seized a leadership position under the aegis of Prof. P. Koutrakis. Among their startling developments was the solution to the age old problem of high flow rates and particle bounce. With their patented foam impaction surface, in essence a virtual surface, collection efficiencies are good and high sample flow rates allow for a new generation of High Volume Cascade Impactors (HVCI).
Beyond the monitoring requirements of governmental air quality agencies like the U.S. EPA, are the urgent need for Environmental Scientists, Epidemiologists and Global-Change Experts to advance detailed information on the nature and composition of airborne particulate matter. The widespread deployment of routine regulatory monitoring devices, provide limited chemical information. Specialized scientists performing advanced chemical speciation and toxicology studies have embraced the BGI Model 900 High Volume Cascade Impactor (HVCI) as the instrument of choice. The detailed analytical work required in the use of an advanced instrument of this type, is offset by the information garnered from it. Applications

The flow rate of a BGI 900 can easily be calibrated using a BGI HiVolCal
A Top Loading Audit Flow Rate Adapter (P/N HVCI9505) is required to connect the HiVolCal to the BGI900.
Regenerative High Capacity Blower for maintaining 900 L/min sample flow rate.
SPECIAL PUMP OFFERThe most popular version of the BGI 900 Cascade Impactor is the one that utilizes an ambient inlet with three (3) impaction stages of 10, 2.5 and 1 μm, plus a filter. This pattern is amenable to a Gast Pump, which will easily attach to the Impactor and will run from a 120 V 60Hz line voltage source capable of sustaining 22 Amps. We have made a special arrangement with a Gast Distributor, Ohlheiser Corp., who will supply the pump in the following configurations:
Order direct from: Phone: (800) 858-9368 This equipment is sold and Warranted by Ohlheiser Corp. For use only in North America or other locations having 60 Hz current only.
