Filter Holders and Acessories

The 47mm Filter Holder has been the standard general purpose filter unit for a wide variety of scientific sampling applications for over 40 years. This design originated in the air filtration research department of a major university and has been the quality standard for this type of device since 1962. The holder is also available in a 37 mm or 25 mm size.

Critical Orifi

As used in air sampling, the critical orifice is a simple metal hole inserted downstream of a sampling device and upstream of the sampling pump. Its purpose is flow regulation. When the pressure downstream of a critical orifice is about 50% less than the pressure immediately upstream, the velocity in the orifice reaches the speed of sound and no further increase in flow rate will occur (under suction condition) that is, the flow becomes "CRITICAL". Devices of this type have long been used for controlling the flow rate through filter holders, cascade impactors, bubblers, etc.

Slaton 37 mm Cassette

The 37 mm plastic cassette has long been the standard for a variety of aerosol sampling applications. Nevertheless, many careful investigators have been concerned about static charge considerations. The Slaton Cassette offers a useful, reusable alternative. The cassette (filter holder) is fabricated from lightweight aluminum turnings and finished in electroless nickel plate to eliminate corrosion and preserve conductivity. The internal taper of the 37 mm plastic cassette has been matched to permit the use of this cassette on our line of cyclones.
